Would an IRA soldier, in New York to buy weapons to transport back to Ireland, really bunk in with an NYPD Sergeant and his family? I mean, this seems incredibly dumb to me, and is just asking for trouble. Did Pitt's character really think he was going to pull this off, virtually right under the cop's nose?
The 'RA would never obtain weapons this way. Too much risk, and just plain not smart. I'm Irish American, and although painted as brutal murderers, the 'RA are very brave freedom fighters and very smart soldiers in a legitimate army fighting for sovreignety in their own homeland held captive by an imperialistic army of occupation. They wouldn't stoop to importing arms through the home of a New York cop!!!! TAL!
Let me ask you this. Were you born in Ireland and then became a naturalised American, or were you born in America. If it's the latter, you're not Irish American. You're simply American, and you are looking at a conflict you had no part in with rose colored specs. Or green colored specs more like.
d although painted as brutal murderers, the 'RA are very brave freedom fighters
No, they are murdering scumbags who killed unarmed men, women and children at least as often as, if not more, than armed targets such as police and military.
smart soldiers in a legitimate army fighting for sovreignety in their own homeland held captive by an imperialistic army of occupation
And yet never had more than minority support for their murderous actions, and for the latter 25 years or more of their campaign were more interested in the money from their illegal criminal enterprises that kept a level of immunity due to their classification as terrorists, and who disbanded when they could no longer claim in any way that they were fighting on behalf of the Irish public. Go sing your ridiculous praises of murdering scumbags in your fake Irish pubs, save that crap for the morons who'd believe it.
Ha, I love these IRA debates on imdb. There're always some idiot Irish-Americans talking out their asses here. Thanks for your input.
Reminds of the time in an Irish-theme pub outside of Boston, where some delusional chick showed me her tattoo, Irish flag with IRA under it. I asked her about what it meant to her, and she hadn't a clue, just thought it was cool, and Irish. WTF
It's contrived to get the Ford/Pitt characters together and as dvts says, the judge organised it rather than Frankie himself. I couldn't see it happening IRL myself, unless the cop was a known sympathiser.🐭
