Who are Chadwick and Waters of Milton, Chadwick and Waters?

Ever seen or spoke of? Devils partners? Do they have powers as well?

reply

I've always wondered about that too. Who are these people?

reply

Someone check the book and see what it says.

"Cum Grano Salis"

I don't believe its even called that in the novel. The novel is light-years away from the film in the way its written.

I figure Milton just made up Chadwick & Waters to make it sound more 'everyday'.
Calling it the law firm of 'Milton, Milton, and Milton' might sound too weird haha.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

I have a copy of the novel, and in that the firm is just called John Milton & Associates.

In my opinion, the film is a far better version of the story than the book, which has its own appeal but beyond the idea itself is actually pretty ordinary. The film's story is much richer, particularly in playing with the theological implications.

I wonder if there are references in the names that I haven't discovered yet, but I've always assumed the name of the firm is an intentional mimickry of the Holy Trinity, as in Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I haven't got this film on DVD anymore; does anyone know if it has a commentary track, that might say more about this?

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Can you share some of the plot differences (and ending) between the film and the book?

Thanks!

reply

It's interesting because when Milton introduces the entire team there is no waters and Chadwick

It's the partners and Barzoon as director and of course Milton as senior partner.

Just for fun, I put the words Chadwick Waters in Google....and this came up:

Chadwick Waters Software Company
3, 349 Coronation Dr, Milton QLD 4064, Australia

Milton, Queensland Australia eh? Whoa haha!
