How again did Simon Canton know "all about" Finnegan when they never even met?

In the original script, Finnegan and Hanover had formerly been partners(hence why Hanover is fairly lenient with him, whereas he'd probably shoot anybody else who talked back to him). So based on that, Finnegan would likely have something of a reputation. I've always assumed that's what Canton was referring to, some things Finnegan did back in his younger days.

IN researching who he should use as mercenaries, he would have researched who had a boat and didn't ask questions. Having a ton of money, he would have the ability to find out a lot of background on anyone he hired.
