Anyone seen Virus?

VIRUS

In many ways this movie is much like VIRUS which was written long before DEEP RISING but not released as a movie until 2 years later. Both movies have the "Small boat in the storm comes across large mysteriously abandoned ship." The folks from the small boat climb aboard the large ship and gradually discover what became of the passengers. Merry mishaps ensue.
Cliff Curtis who also stars in VIRUS. In both VIRUS and DEEP RISING, Curtis has you thinking that he is somehow, the only actor who doesn't know that this is all make believe: that's how real his acting is.

An 'abandoned' ship.
A group of people board the ship.
A female survivor is found aboard.
A dangerous entity starts killing everyone.
Cliff Curtis is in both movies.

Virus is over-the-top gruesome whereas Deep Rising is more watchable, even if it has its fair share of unsettling deaths too i.e. when the bad guys' boss gets slowly sucked/eaten from the inside and can't kill himself because he wasted the last bullet... O_o' That scene stayed with me for quite some time.

All in all, Deep Rising is a much better movie because it happens to be a really entertaining and fun ride whereas Virus is merely a gore-fest.

People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs
