Stephen Sommers best movie
no doubt about it
shareThough I prefer The Mummy over this movie, this was a hell of a lot of fun. I wish he'd do another R-rated gorefest.
I'll bring the BEARDS.share
I agree with the OP - this one's my favorite.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

Yeah, I agree with the OP as well.
The Mummy was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the three hero characters in it and the way they played off each other, but it really suffers from the lack of any sense of threat or horror. Imhotep isn't scary, and he really needed to be.
That said, Van Helsing wasn't at all scary, and even Deep Rising isn't so much scary as merely gruesome, so maybe Horror isn't really Sommers' forte.
You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Deep Rising is the Sommers best film, no doubt about it

Definitely
I'd like to see him direct another R rated film, he's pretty good at it!
Thought I was havin' trouble with my adding. It's all right now

I rewatched this on the blu ray (bargain of the year at $4.99 BTW) last night, and I have to say it's one of his better films. I still like the Mummy a little better. This is a great film though. Treat Williams is perfect. I'm actually glad that he was cast instead of Harrison Ford.
