Question About Julia Louis Dreyfus Sex Scene
Just saw it on youtube...wow. Just a quick question, why was her character having sex with that old guy? Was that her boyfriend in the movie? Thanks.

shareShe was having an affair with her brother-in-law (the old guy), but that sequence is a dramatization of one of the stories written by Woody Allen's character Harry Block, so is not a literal event within the movie.
"I of course can't swim so I never have to face it"
I love Annie Hall and Manhattan, yet damn, that was the best moment of all of Aleen's movie. I mean I need a sandwich or cigarette after that. Now that I hear its on YouTube I think I'll take a vow of celibacy.
shareOh, yeah!!! This is another thing--Woody dramatizes in live action scenes from fiction stories his character has written. And this flows in with live action that is part of the actual narrative story of this movie!!! It's hilarious! It's brilliant!
It's like, Geez, if you've got a story to tell, whatever the hell it is, tell it with cinema. Just do it! And don't worry about it, it's a movie.
"They're all here to honor you. After all, you created them." Geez, it's one of those things that creates goosebumps.
Why does everyone keep referring to Richard Benjamin as "that old guy?" Why don't you take the time to look up his name and post that instead. And besides, he isn't that old, older than her yes, but he does not look as old as other people his age (69).
shareI couldnt watch a film on Youtube, especially a good film like this.
uh, 69 is pretty old...
i'm 35 and people bug me about being old. but 69? come on, jack.

69? I thought he was in his forties, maybe fifties.
shareA little late with this comment, but he was actually about 58 years old when filming.

Ever since starring in the film of Goodbye Columbus, actor Richard Benjamin has been thought of as a kind of alter-ego for writer Philip Roth. The character is loosely based on Philip Roth an 'older man' who undoubtedly has had many young admirers.
