Is this Stallone's best non Rocky performance ??
you can make the case.

Definitely, it had a great story, acting and characters, not just the usual shooting and blowing up stuff. Too bad it wasn't a bigger success.
I would say it is his greatest performance period. For an actor who had built career on playing the often indestructible action hero, it's amazing to see how effortlessly he subverts all that by making Freddy such a believable everyman, weary and defeated. It's so much more than the physical transformation he made by stacking on the pounds. It's a measured, nuanced, moving performance, one that Stallone has still not matched.
shareYes, it is. Like the other poster said: he completely let go of his usual though guy apparence and so easily makes it believable that he is vulnerable and weak. Definitely, this is a totally different role for him.
shareI'd say yes
shareIf so, I'd give the credit to the director and scriptwriter(s).
I like that it's a nuanced film that doesn't fall into easy tropes, but I don't see Stallone as really burning up the screen with some amazing transformation. Feels like a very "natural" performance, and it's fine, but I think it's the movie that shines more than Sly.
Yes, i think he's fantastic here. I really wish he would have made more crime dramas like this. Easily one of his best movies.
