Out how some films are rated so low ? 6.9?? I would have thought this be at least rated in the mid 7s Stallone best and great performance apart from
Rocky and first blood. Great cast. Anyone know this wasn’t like that much ?
Who can say? Maybe people thought it too derivative, the cast and storyline might have made it seem Scorcese-lite to some.
I agree though, it's a fantastic film and one I can re-watch every 12 months or so and never get bored of. It is easily Stallone's most measured and understated performance, he's perfect. Watching him hold his own opposite De Niro is awesome, it's a shame he didn't get the rewards recognition for this, he was well praised but the film kind of flew under the radar.
But yeah, a score of 8+ would be more fitting.
Yeah I've always felt that 6.9 is too low. Maybe back in the day people wanted a straight up action movie and weren't interested in seeing Stallone in a more serious crime drama. Still it's a really good movie and Stallone is great in it.
shareI'm not sure why you brought up IMDB specifically, but it's an extremely underrated movie. It's well-made fro top-to-bottom, never saw anyone say anything bad about it, but very few even acknowledge it.
