What did Ellie see when she got to the Vega star?

When Ellie went through the wormhole, she gets to the blue star Vega...she stares for a bit, looks up briefly & she sees some kind of satellite looking machine & then quickly gets sucked through another wormhole....WTF was it?!? Bluray commentary mentions nothing about it! Someone pleeease!

From the book, it was a giant SETI-type array. How they picked up our signal, and how they replied.

In the book I believe ti was described as the size of a world. It was meant to be a relay station for radio messages. In the movie it looked like a long, rectangular array of alien satellite dishes.
