How did the religious nut get in? With a bomb no less

How in the *beep* would some random nutbag protester get into an operation like that with a bomb. Absolutely ridiculous. No way would an internationally funded half-trillion dollar endeavor like that be accessible by just random people. There would be LOTS of guys with guns and everybody involved would be scoured with a fine-toothed comb before they could set 1 foot near such a place.

Mac wants the WHAT?!

I guess he wasn't a random nutbag but one with the access to work there legitimately.

Security was more lax before 9/11, but it is far fetched to believe a guy could smuggle in a full vest full of high explosives.

It was implied that "Joseph" the religious nut had gone to the effort of getting a job on the launch crew.

There were a lot of people opposed to the Machine. It's very credible that some of them could have helped him get an ID badge to enter the facility and conceal the explosives in a box of tools or equipment.

Fowler's knots? Did you say ... fowler's knots?

The most ironic part of the movie (at least to me) was that the reason Tom Skeritt was chosen to pilot the craft because he believed in God, but was blown up by another person who believed in God thought the project was evil.
