That scene where Alyssa is with her lesbian friends and they all have this look on their faces like they just heard a friend died when she announces she is in love with a man pisses me off. I don't mind lesbians but I can't stand the man-hating variety. As though it is impossible for her to be happy with a man. And saying, "Another one bites the dust" as though there is a mission to keep as many women strictly lesbian as possible. Fücking ridiculous.
It's always somewhat ironic when groups that claim to be about freedom of expression and have been targets of bullying and conformity will behave in the exact same way themselves when they have the safety of numbers on their side.
Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.

Yes, exactly. It is what is going on nowadays with SJWs. They are screaming people down calling them bigots or what have you and threatening people with violence for simply making a statement. In their quest to insure equality for all they are taking away people's freedom of speech.
The problem with all these "Equal Rights" groups is they don't want equality, they seek supremacy and division. Which is exactly why the silent majority are waking up and we are seeing the pendulum swing back in the right direction.

No, not at all. It just feels like that because the dominant are no longer allowed to do or say whatever they want. They don't like being held accountable for their views, so they think there's some war on them.
we are seeing the pendulum swing back in the right direction.
Wow. So you think the "right" direction is to continue oppressing groups that are striving for equality?

Oh please, they already have equality. They want dominance which is why the seek to destroy freedom of speech.
And yes it will swing back in the right direction and these people will know what it actually feels like to be oppressed for I know what it feels like because of the Left and people like them.

Ha ha. No. Freedom of speech only applies to the government. They can't shut you up. But that doesn't mean you can say ignorant, hateful things and not expect some type of reprisal from society. Sorry, free speech includes calling out people on their hate speech. Consequences. Life's full of them.
these people will know what it actually feels like to be oppressed
Hilarious. Sorry, but I'm pretty sure blacks, gays, transgendered, and women already know what it's like to be oppressed.
But you don't. Oppression is not being told you can't be hateful no matter how much you wish upon a star.

When people talk about a potential fascist state, it's because of posts like yours, though. Be honest, substitute "Jews" for "leftards", and tell me your post wouldn't be right at home in Mein Kampf, or any speech or placard leading up to Kristalnacht. Just sayin'...
If you'll just admit you strive for a fascist state, at least you'll have been truthful. But never forget, they could be coming for you next...
Sorry to educate you here but Hitler was a Socialist. He actually didn't do anything different to Lenin and Stalin in the USSR, and by the way the Soviets, Mao Tse Tung and other Communists killed hundreds of millions of people.
Oh and your side is already gunning for me. Remember every action has an opposite and equal reaction. Obama's legacy is Trump.

I think the scene is accurate and speaks to uneasiness with the idea that lesbianism has an element of choice, like some women are desireable enough to be lifted out of it while others remain in it like a form of refuge or opportunism. These people do not look healthy.
There’s a difference between ‘gay’ and ‘queer’. The former is attraction to the same sex, the latter is a political community. Alyssa’s queer friends acted like ‘the little pink mafia’ that Banky described when they showed total intolerance of her sexuality and ostracised her.
It’s a very perceptive film and Kevin Smith seems like a truly liberal guy who calls out all authoritarians, whether they be conservatives or SJW’s, and he was doing this in 1997!
I wish he’d make more stuff like Chasing Amy but I think weed, Hollywood, fame and twenty years have filed his edges off and he’s making ‘safer’ content these days. Still funny and smart entertainment with fantastic writing and memorable characters, but none of the raw social commentary of Chasing Amy, which I find to be his most impressive and funniest film.
