What if the cop never showed up?

In the scene when Kurt Russell first confronts J.T. Walsh about his wife missing, I've always wondered what would've happened if the cop never happened to be driving by. What if the cop never showed up? What was Kurt Russell going to do?

reply

Probably would have done all he could to make the guy talk. Like the way he handled the guy he taped down to the passengers seat to make him talk.

Well, Russell knew for sure that Red Barr had driven off with his wife, so he would have done everything he could to find out where she was, including torturing Red Barr until he revealed the truth, unless of course Red claimed he had a twin driving around the area as well.

I think that if the cop hadn't of shown up. J T Walsh would have ambushed Kurt and kidnapped him too. Later in the film the Bon Jovi wannabe says to him " why didn't you grab the both of them " Walsh replies " I tried but he wouldn't get in the truck"
This tells me that Walsh was capable of bettering the guy or was armed...
I think the cop turnin up did Kurt more favours than it did Walsh....

Thats funny that you refrerred to the blonde haired guy as "The Bon Jovi wannabe" cuz the actor playing him was actully in a Bon Jovi video in the 90's called "Always". Got to co-star with my dream woman - Carla Gugino too. Lucky bastard.
