Tamala Jones is a hot woman, but, God, did her character in Booty Call drive me nuts. The main four characters should've been in high school, because that is exactly the age that Nikki was behaving. She kept being so un-sure about a guy she dated and loved for quite a while, that she couldn't make up her mind about whether or not she wanted to have sex with him. She wanted it one minute, and then would change her mind the next, and she was a grown woman, who i'm sure was not a virgin, so i didn't see what all the fuss was about. Plus, she was so insecure about having grown up sex, that she kept trying to convince Vivica Fox to not do it with Jamie and that was not only selfish, but just plain cold. If i were Vivica, i'd have been like, "Just because you can't be brave and adult about this, doesn't mean i have to not do it". Her character was whiny, annoying, stuck-up(i dunno why she was, she wasn't anything to brag about), and immature. I like Tamala Jones, i just didn't care for the character of Nikki. Vivica Fox is not as hot as she used to be, but she has always been an attractive woman to me. I didn't care for her character of Lysterine either, because she was also stuck-up, and amazingly shallow. "He does have class, right? Because you know i don't go out with a man who does not have class". How more friggin' shallow can you get? True, Foxx and Davidson were only out to get laid in that movie, but there was just something about the female characters that made them un-likeable to me. After the second time my woman told me to go to the store to buy something we DIDN'T need for sex, i would angrily throw my clothes on and leave for a couple days. Condoms are one thing, but when she told Rashon to go buy Glad-wrap, i was like, "Oh, my God, this guy has to conquor a planet before he can have safe sex with the woman he apparently likes". I felt better when he and Bunz eventually got sick of the run-around and decided to go home. One other scene that drove me nuts was when they were on the date, hustling each other for a game of pool, and Bunz and Rashon were getting creamed by Lysterine, while Nikki just stood there. Everytime they would lose a game to Lysterine, Nikki would collect the money in a very cocky like manner, and she wasn't even playing the game. In my world, if you're not even playing a game where money is being bet, just watching and collecting dough, then you have nothing to be so proud about. Like i said, the character of Nikki just drove me nuts.

originally, the only reason i watched this movie (on cable) a few years ago was vivica fox. i'm a fan of hers, and if you are too you'll be happy to know that she's actually topless in a couple of scenes.
i knew going in that with a title like "booty call" i shouldn't expect high art, or heavy intellectual content, but i was surprised then how funny this movie is...and even more surprised that i think it's funnier now after having seen it again just last night!

it's full of trash-talking and silly sight-gags (most of which work), and the scene in the chinese restaurant is one of the funniest i've seen in any comedy.
there's also some stereotyping (as you're going to get in one of 'these' types of movies), but in comedy generally you laugh right along with it. and, i mean laugh out loud during this film.

i kind of wonder why the imdb rating for the movie is so low? maybe people are expecting something else? yeah, right (l.o.l.) with a title like "booty call" what else would you be expecting to get :-P
i think it's a smart (if pretty low-brow) very adult comedy about "safe-sex," and what hoops people are jumping through in order to carry on with their 'mating games.' :-)
