Is that in real life porn industry, dirk would and could have worked with other directors other than jack, he may have started out with jack, but he would have went on to many other directors in the business like holmes did, actually. all of them could have.. too
shareI'm pretty sure that there is exclusivity deals that exist or once existed. I'm sure you are correct (and Nina would know for sure) about different directors but if it is "Jack Horner Films" then you could maybe envision being "signed" to him exclusively.
The closest thing I can think of is this porn star I know. She talked about how every girl in the business wanted to get the "Vivid Girl" contract. You got like 52 grand (each year) but could not work anywhere else. If you did a website for cash, you were fired, etc. The girls would make extra money touring strip clubs and making appearances as "Vivid Girls"..some girls preferred to be free lancers and work any of those pay sites back in the day as you could have a real fun summer in California while making an easy 10k monthly...but then the work dries up and you have to break your limits to keep working and many actually become high-priced escorts or "sugar-girls" for rich guys...it's a heck of a sub culture. Of course, many girls go back home and hope you don't see them on one of the paysites..
Maybe this is sort of based on that type of arrangement?

shareBut it's the whole downward spiral he found himself caught in - the ego, the drugs. He could have been shown working for other producers in Boogie Nights, just as Holmes in real life continued to work with other producers, but his drug use led to impotence. I think it's just a brief side step in Boogie Nights to move the plot a little quicker.
