If you'd never seen the original...
what would you think of this movie, strictly by itself, with no expectations?
It might seem like just some kind of a freaky fantasy musical. That's how I think of it.
i didnt see the first one for almost a year after i saw this and personally i thought it was an incredible musical comedy. and as far as holding up with the original flick, i thought it did perfectley once i saw both.
shareOne of the things it has been criticized for, diverting from Chicago Blues to New Orleans Blues, is actually perfectly appropriate, IMHO. They had covered Chicago Blues in the first movie. They couldn't simply ignore Delta Blues. It was absolutely correct for them to end up traveling to New Orleans instead of Chicago for the sequel.
