What is the name of the instrumental song that plays when Elwood and Buster are driving along and stop at the stoplight?

The Perry Mason theme.

No, what I'm thinking of had a more standard chord I-I-IV-I-V-IV-I chord progression. The Perry Mason theme sounds nothing like that.

I haven't seen the film in ages, but interestingly, I have the soundtrack CD
and two of the instrumentals are Can't Turn You Loose (the famous Blues Brothers theme), and Let There Be Drums. I don't know if either of these is
the answer to your question......

It could be 'Last Night' (originally by the mar-keys), which didn't make it to the soundtrack.
