Why do people hate this movie so much

I am thinking the same thing. I mean a movie with James Brown, BB King, Clapton, Aretha, etc... I mean with those artists alone makes the movie awesome.
Sometimes it seems people try to just pick good movies apart, just looking for something wrong with it. It's really frustrating, and disrespectful to these amazing artists in my book.

Because all it is is a collection of great music artists and a bunch of cameos but a very weak story compared to the original. And YES, I'm comparing it to the original because this was a 20 years later sequel to a classic movie and should have been able to stand on its own as being at least as good.

BB was a masterpiece of comedy. BB2K is just a cash-in with great performances but very few laughs.

It's not an impressive story, but it's FUN! And it deserves 7 or 8 stars just for the music alone. I love this movie!

I wouldn't call the storyline great, but it was a good, entertaining movie with a great soundtrack. It falls short in comparisson to the original, but don't most sequels?

I am watching it (again) right now ... great flick.

Problem is, too many people are expecting the comedy and fun of the original. Sorry, Belushi is dead. So what we have here is nothing more, nothing less than a Hollywood musical - great songs tied together by a relatively simple book. The cameos are fun, the songs are great - and a *beep* of cars get wrecked.

Not as much comedy as the original - wasn't going to win any Oscars - wasn't going to be tops at the box office. Why not just sit back and enjoy the music?
