shareHeh, watched this movie and noticed Paul Shaffer was the witch queen's announcer/whatever, you know the dude with the big white hair.
shareHmmm later he looks like himself.
shareI'm sure you know that he was the musical director of the original Blues Brothers Band and was supposed to be in the film, but was contractualy obligated to Saturday Night Live and was not able to appear in the first film, leading to his having a falling out with John Belushi.
shareDo you know what his role in the 1st movie was supposed to be? Thanks in advance.
sharePaul would have taken the place held by Murphy Dunne, who is just an actor (and a talented pianist) who was brought in to replace Paul when John Belushi, angry that Paul had helped Gilda Radner with a comedy album, cut him from the band.
Belushi thought that Paul's attention should have been 100% on the Blues Brothers and saw Paul's work with Radner as a personal betrayal.
This is from wikipedia.
The band's original keyboardist, Paul Shaffer, was committed to Gilda Radner's one-woman show on Broadway and was unable to appear in the first film. He was replaced by actor-musician Murphy Dunne. Shaffer does appear in Blues Brothers 2000, he took a week off from Late Show with David Letterman in order to film his role as Marco, Queen Moussette's aide (Warren Zevon took his place that week on the show). During the Funky Nassau number, Marco asks to cut in on keyboards, which Murph allows. This marks the first on-screen time that the Blues Brothers Band plays with the original keyboardist.
