I like to think that elwood and buster find a way to escape at the end, i mean, they escape from the police like 10 times before.
i know i saw this in theaters and when Elwood told Buster he better buckle up, i was like, hell yeah big ending, then the credits started rolling, so i was expecting a sequel really soon, but never happened.

Yes, you're right, but this is when the credits have finished, and is not really part of the storyline.
The other ending was a wimp out though. Couldn't she have turned the police into rats as well?
The ending was majorly huge disappointing let down if you ask me. But it does feel like it gives you that sort of cliffhanger urge to it.
