They absolutely should have case Jim Belushi in this. Huge mistake not to.

I thought the exact same thing, he would be perfect, I think he even did a few live performances as Jakes blood brother or something, it says on - http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/about/ , that:

Jim Belushi declined to be involved, but in his place was John Goodman as 'Mighty Mack' Blues.

So maybe he did not want to ruin his fathers legacy.

According to the wikipedia, he couldn't do the movie because he was doing a tv show at the time.

Everyone has their own opinion and you're certainly entitled to yours, but I'm glad Jim Belushi wasn't involved in this movie. The only thing he has in common with John is his last name. I don't really care for him at all, but I love John Goodman as an actor and I think he was a pretty good singer in this movie as well.

I disagree. Jim Belushi is funny. I have watched his TV show and it is very funny.
