Buster, the 10 year old kid? you know what.. i'm just glad your nick is "girlwithguitars" and not "bob45".

The kid was the worst (and possibly the cheesiest) part about this poor excuse for a sequel. When I saw the kid I knew that the Blues Brothers had truly "jumped the shark." Buster made a bad movie worse. I saw no cute factor; the kid was annoying at best.
Now Simon Birch, THAT is a cute factor that worked.
All in all, it is so sad Ackroyd and Landis couldn't just let the masterpiece be.

How can you be so annoyed with a kid? I think he brought alote of young people to get hooked on this movie, me and many of my friends who were about 13 years old when this movie came out, thought the kid was cool. the way he competed with Elwood on the harmonica and stole the polices money.
Call me crazy, but this is one of my favorite movies. I guess you have to be inlove with the music to have that opinion about it. It would be such a loss if Landis and Aykroyd hadnt done this movie. To me, it's more than just a movie. It's special.

The only people i've heard like Sweden are people who doesn't live here

The music is all the movie had . . . I love the music, and the original Blues Brothers movie. I play in a band that does old Motown, Chicago Blues, Memphis Stax/Volt music, which is what the Blues Brothers did.
I loved that Steve Cropper (guitarist) and Duck Dunn (bassist) from Booker T & the MG's were part of the BB Band. I loved it when the BB opened up for the Grateful Dead at the Closing of Winterland. But you gotta admit Ackroyd and Landis jumped the shark on the sequel.
This sequel was horrible, as far as movies go. It had none of the comedic edge the original had, and the kid factor was annoying. It just wasn't funny. That's only my opinion; I'm glad if it made a new generation appreciate the music.

Buster's character was probably the saving role for this entire movie. Take a good look. Dan Ackroyd, as great as he is was too talkative and heavy. John Goodman, sad to say, as great as he is, was beyond weak in this.

But here's Buster. J. Evan Bonifant was like 11 or so when filming this. His deadpan beats Ackroyd by a mile. His dancing is the most perfectly on-time and on beat than any of the others. I love child actors that throw their entire being into a role, as J. Evan Bonifant did in this.

I don't know what he's doing now, but for his performance in BB2K, THANK YOU. He made a terrible movie worth watching.

The kid sucked and was only in the movie to meet the studio (Universal) demand.
I will also say that Joe Morton and John Goodman also sucked, including the kid, it took three people to try and replace John Belushi and they still failed. Not that it would have been THAT much better, but they should have gone with the original plan of having Jim Belushi as "Brother Zee". I know that he was expecting to be in the movie, had toured in preperation for it and taken time off of the television project that he was working on at the time in order to make himself available for the movie.

Buster was lame. I would have preferred Jim Belushi as Brother Zee Blues over J. Evan Bonifant as Buster, John Goodman as Mack and Joe Morton as Cab.

A lot of people put this film down. Lots of great cameos from the old movie and from music legends.

I didn't like John Goodman when he went on SNL & tried to be a Blues Brother. Sadly, that started the problem. Goodman replacing Belushi - there's your problem. (I like Goodman in anything else.)

If you really watch the film, Elwood finding & perusing Cab was cool. What needed to happen is little Buster, played by J. Evan Bonifant, needed a better relationship/bonding story with Elwood. (Then the part of Jake being gone would have smoothed out easier.) I always said when Buster breaks out the harmonica (it's out of nowhere) - Elwood should have given him a harp before. Like "This is the first cool thing my brother (or Curtis) gave me, etc." Then we would assume he started practicing & was a natural. Again, that could have bonded them together. J. Evan Bonifant won me over with his dance moves during "Respect." He shows a lot of talent in the film and it could have made the film better.

I'm told about 3 hours of film was on the cutting room floor, and that could have happened somewhat. Anyway, having "Mac" REPLACE "Jake" was the problem. Letting Elwood mentor Buster, was NOT the problem if you watch & think about what I just wrote.

Only my opinion... but it does make sense.

Buster was a great addition to the band. Watched this for the first time with my 10yo daughter. She loved it and thought Buster was adorable. She couldn't believe such great music existed. Thankyou Blues Bros!
