a third blues brothers? in the words of jake, "no... f___ing... way". really? dan aykroyd has got to be about 60 and half the band are dead arent they? (i'm prepared to be wrong). bb2000 was quite enjoyable when i saw it but not a patch on the original - we need not make it any worse.

then again, if they could really find a way to make it work well, i wouldnt mind.

All of the band are still alive (with the obvious exception of "Mr Jake Blues" himself). There are some other cast members no longer with us (James Brown, Wilson Picket, Kathleen Freeman), while others are barely regonizable as their BB incarnations (Frank Oz, Buster Blues). I have kids and saw that episode of Wizards of Waverly Place that J. Evans was on and didn't have the slightest idea it was him. But seriously, who do you put in as the 'big guest musicians'? 50 cent? Snoop? Lil Wayne? That's what's become of music anyway...

reply

(Dan Akroyd and John Belushi), not John Goodman and some kid. And since you can't do 'Jake and Elwood' I don't see any reason in making another. UNLESS, maybe you did Jim Belushi as Jake's long-lost biological kid brother or something - but JUST the two of them.

there are plenty of musicians and actors who could play the friends of the blues brothers...

jaimie foxx could do Ray again

joaquin phoenix could be a johnny cash type character

willie nelson fits in...

jennifer hudson too....

reply

I'm thinking the original title of the first movie: "Return of the Blues Brothers"

I'm thinking a new Jake and Elwood, Elwood's illegitimate sons who never met each other before. Elwood is sick, and they gotta get a band together and get the money for him. Or something like that.

The comedy needs to be more deadpan, like the original movie, more adult (not foul, just more real-world), not so many ludicrous sequences.

I guess the meek can inherit the Earth now. It looks like the stupid aren;t doing anything with it.

I really hope you are kidding. What because Jamie Foxx and Joaquin Phoenix played famous musicians recently they should play them again in a movie about a "real" band? That is a flat out stupid idea. Jennifer Hudson in a Blues Brothers movie? No.

Also you CANNOT replace Ray Charles.

Lets put a SMILE on that face!

Why the Beep would anyone want a 3rd movie???

Blues Brothers 2000 sucked

reply

I wouldn't say it sucked. If you cut out the ludicrous tranformation scene, hiding in the dash, and other campy jokes, it's not a bad flick.

I couldn't agree more.

There is no need for a third film. The second one was milking it. A third one would be even worse. People, stop living in the past. Let go of the Blues Brothers. Just let go.

I would still want to see a blues brothers 2010!

reply

The only good sequel would have been "Return of the Blues Brothers" which Akeroyd was writing after the release of the original but it was scrapped when Belushi died.

I think they should've just left it at that.

As long as they have:

- one Blues brother leaving jail;
- a band apart needing to be put together;
- some nice musical numbers;
- Nazos, Mafiosi, Yazuka or some other hate group wanting to kill our guys;
- an EVEN BIGGER pile of police cars thrashed because they were chasing the
Bluesmobile at insane speed.

I don't see why not.

They're all alive but i wouldn't go for a BB3.

OK, I know it’s now a few years after this post began, but Alan Rubin (Mr. Fabulous) is gone – Donald “Duck” Dunn is gone – Matt “Guitar” Murphy had a bad stroke a few years ago & Aretha Franklin is very sick too.

They need to leave this alone now.

Blues Bros movies should be made every 10 years if only to teach the kids of the day what great music really is.
