A lot of people miss the point

Seriously, if you review this movie on it's plot, you're a douche without a clue. It's all about the music, which is *beep* awesome. If you judge this movie on the music and still think it sucks, you're a retard. There is no other word for it. The ending scene features some of the most legendary blues artists together on stage. That has never happened before.

It's just a feel-good movie with awesome music, what's wrong with that? You people are taking the movie, and yourselves way too seriously.

Yes, I agree with you completely. The first one was much better. John Belushi is awesome.

But still, this movie doesn't deserve to get completely trashed. It's still a fun movie.

even musicals need a plot though.

although the music is the driving force, it was the driving force of the Original too, but they knew that without an entertaining plot they would be sunk, they clearl forgot this somewhere. It shouldn't be judged on the music, it should be judged as a film, and this is one terrible film. the music isn't even that great (the "carribean" scene... dear god no). It's just a shame this has tainted my view of the original.

if it was a feel good movie, why did i wretch after watching it?

This film has a band, led by B.B. King, that was so strong, they had greats like Lou Rawls and Eric Clapton singing backup!

This was not the original film, and with John Belushi gone, it never could be. I loved Buster, Mighty Mack and Caleb, and I don't think Jim Belushi could have filled his brother's shoes as well as John Goodman did.

The film shouldn't be compared to the original. The entire premise was different, but you know what? The music was great!

I intend to live forever.
So far, so good.

I saw this film several times in the cinema when I was a teenagers , just because I loved the soundtrack but the story/writing not so much. The original had a fun story , lots of humor and great music , this one only have great music...They should have made a live concert instead of a film...

Exactly. Once you make it through the whole "getting the band back together" hokum and Dan Aykroyd's tiresome shtick (I read somewhere he said he didn't watch his own movies--go figure!) it was just a romp with an endless line-up of musical legends. It was like an Adam Sandler movie--very self referential and farcical, made worse by Landis' overuse of medium-close-up reaction shots. But where Adam Sandler makes his movies in places that double as vacation destinations for him and his cast, Landis and Aykroyd keep true to Chicago.

This movie made me remember how much fun it was to say "Funky Nassau" when I was a kid. It was close enough to an obscene phrase but when I got busted I would tell my Mom it was a song title and I could say it all I wanted.
