Does Julie become a superhero or villain in the comics? The film seems to be saving her for a future role in the next film that ultimately wasn’t made.

Batman tends to have moved on to a new love interest each film. Only exception I know of is Rachel Dawes in the first two of Nolan's trilogy before being killed off.
