Does Schumacher get berated for going along with studio demands?

In making B&R as kid friendly as possible.

Should he had said no and walked away?

If he was against making it the way it is would he have done it?

Would it had been any better without studio pressure or toy company involvement?

reply

Beyond him claiming he wanted to do Year One Schumacher doesn't come off as somebody who would fight to make a quality film.

It seems like he likes both the dark and kid-friendly versions of Batman so he wasn't really against the studio's preferences.

reply

He doesn't really come off as somebody who is against the studio's preferences, I don't think he cared if he did a dark or kid friendly Batman at all or it it was too dark or too kid friendly.

so he wasn't really against the studio's preferences.

If he was he wouldn't have done it. He could've said no to the project.

Some people think he was held back but he doesn't come off as like that. If he was held back forced to make a film he didn't want why is there homoerotic undertones when it's suppose to be a kid's film?

By going along with studio preferences make him a hack?

reply

I don't see how there are homoerotic undertones in the film, let alone more than were in BF or are inappropriate.

reply

Homoerotic undertones are the nipples, codpieces and giant statues of naked men. Perhaps isn't a big deal but when looking at them it seems unusual.
