2017 will be the 20th anniversary of B&R, so do you think this year they will release a 20th anniversary edition Blu-Ray of this film? Batman '89 had two Blu-Ray releases, one in 2009 for its 20th anniversary and the other one in 2014 for its 25th anniversary, whereas Batman Returns had no Blu-Ray release in 2012 for its 20th anniversary, so didn't Batman Forever in 2015 for its 20th anniversary.
Any info on this?
I would like to see a new blu-ray for B&R with remastered picture and sound (maybe even an extended director's cut with updated special effects) and any deleted scenes, bloopers, documentaries, and other new special features. However, it seems like Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (to a lesser extent) are the only Batman films of the '80s/'90s era that general audiences seem to care about, so it may not have enough of a market to warrant a new release.
shareIf they did 4K remasters of the 1989-1997 Batman film series, I think they would have to improve the image and sound quality, and I hope so for the Nolan trilogy.
shareThat's probably true about the film getting remastered if it were part of a new collection. Maybe there will be a 30th anniversary box set in 2019 with all the Batman movies since 1989 remastered in 4K.
