Cheesiest Part?

I know that's a bold statement since this movie was chock full of cheese and "icy" puns....but for me the absolute most ludicrous part:

When Batman and Robin are bidding on Poison Ivy's, umm, services after she has put both of them under her spell.

Batman bids a million dollars, topping some rich old dude who bid half a million.

Robin then pipes up with a two million dollar bid.

Batman tells him: you don't have it...and then proceeds to get in a back-and-forth bidding war up to seven million or so.

If all of that weren't silly enough, Batman then breaks out a credit card to a "cha-ching" sound, with a Batman symbol on it that says "Batman" for the name, and "Good Thru" Forever" as the date, with the brand being "GothCard"...and then says "never leave your cave without it".

This silliness trumped almost any of the 1960's Batman cheesiness.

Of course there were many candidates to choose from....a close second might be: Alfred's computer that protected all of the secrets of Batman, the suits, the vehicles, their identities, etc...was protected with the password of "Peg", which was also written on a picture of his ex-wife directly adjacent to the computer screen.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

Yeah, I agree. The card has to be issued by a bank or such which would have records of who opened it, their credit rating, who pays it, where the bills get sent....

reply

Yep haha. Theres some staff member of a bank out there who opened Bruce's Batman account and knows all his secrets.

What situation would he ever even need that card also? How often does Batman stop at a gas station and need to buy something? And why couldnt he just bring cash?

reply

I don't blame Batman or Robin...I would pay big money to sleep with Uma Thurman too. haha.

I like cheesy movies so this is one of my go to films for mindless entertainment.

See, the credit card perfectly encapsulates the difference between the old show and B&R. On the old show it is clearly ridiculous to have a Bat Heavy Water Dispenser and Shark Repellent Bat Spray, but Batman actually uses those things, so their existence is justified within the crazy logic of the show. The credit card is just there for a "Don't leave home without it" joke.

The ice skates. I posted a separate thread specifically about them. How long had Batman had ice skates built into his suit before he finally got to use them in that scene?

reply

Yep, basically this first 10 minutes was a cacophony of cheese, include the ice skates and playing hockey with a huge diamond....just brutal.
