The Hollywood Hand Grenade
I'm starting an international movement to return the sheen to the tarnished reputation of the M67 hand grenade. This movie is just one of many movies that highly exaggerate the explosive power of the hand grenade in general and the M67 hand grenade in particular. A hand grenade is a small amount of cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine and ball bearings encased in a ball of sheet metal. The "kill radius" is a mere 15 feet. That's two baseball players laying end to end. The blast itself is a loud pop, like a gun shot. In the dirt, an exploding M67 looks like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M67_grenade. The man on the right isn't really concerned. In this movie Carlos the Jackal could have just as easily lit the fuse of a bundle of dynamite sticks and dropped it to the floor as the brilliant fuze fizzled in grand Hollywood style. So please, Hollywood, poor Mr. Hand Grenade isn't even getting paid residuals for playing the heavy.
