It's a cartoon ... comrade.
shareIf a cartoon can glorify something as loathsome as the Russian aristocracy, surely a cartoon could instead show how things really were under the tsardom. The misery of the exploited workers and peasants who maintained the tsars' glamorous life, the anti-Jewish pogroms, the bloody imperialist wars to enlarge the tsar's empire and enrich the ruling class. Oh but then the movie would be "political", it would be "propaganda". Not so when it's glorifying the royal family, of course; then "it's just a cartoon, lighten up". I mean, someone could make a cartoon romanticizing the Nazis, then people might have some things to say about it.
shareYEAH CAUSE ALL MY DAUGHTERS FAVORITE ANIMATED FILMS CONTAIN NAZIS,EXPLOITED WORKERS AND PEASANTS,ANTI JEWISH PROGRAMS AND BLOODY WARS....OH OH...AND A TALKING BAT.
shareYep. It's a work of fiction.
shareHey, if you don't like it, don't watch it. No point in hating on it all the time.
shareHush.
shareMany former soviet states are war worse off today than in the SSR.
shareDon’t think I’ve ever met a Russian or anyone from an East European splinter state (e.g., Kazakhstan) who was not a complete alcoholic, liar, thief and cheat, and who did not vastly overestimate his charm and intellect.
You assholes would have been a grease spot without Klause Fuchs, who personified Albert Einstein’s observation that “There only 2 things in Creation that are infinite: the Universe, and human stupidity.”
