Tales From an Extra

Ok, I was an extra on the set of this flick. The amusement park scenes were filmed in Denver at (then) Elitch Gardens. Now it's a six flags. Now even though this isn't at the top of my resume I'd thought I'd share a few interesting tidbits. Loni Anderson and Hulk Hogan were miserable on the set. They would shoot their scenes and then duck right into their trailors. We called it the shoot and run. Most of the time they never even had their lines memorised. My biggest memory of the shoot was watching a ten year old boy asking for Hogan's autograph. The "Hulk" had one of his bodygaurds escort him off the set because he was eating at the time. The only thing I enjoyed was the free hamburgers and Jim Varney. A nice, nice man.

I was also an extra on this. I remember we had to do the "Holding Pit" scene like fifteen times because the director wasn't getting enough out of Hogan, and the first two times the steadicam-op kept tripping over the cords when he was doing that walk around shot.

Jim Varney was indeed awesome, as was Mr. Wong. We got to talk to him on our way back to the extra pavillion. They are both missed.

Freaking awesome.

That's pretty ironic since there is a scene where Hogan signs something for a kid.

Nice to hear about Jim Varney. I was always a big fan of the Ernest movies when i was younger, even though they did get progressively worse before he died.
