I missed the first 10 minutes of this movie, I read that the meaning of 187 was explained, and of course it was later on explained that Jackson got stabbed.
Can anyone please tell me what else happened? Any more story-relevant things?

Alot. Samuel L. Jackson's character fails a student who is not allowed to fail anymore classes. The student (played by Method Man) writes 187 on all the pages of his book telling Jackson that he is going to kill him. Jackson tries to get help from the administration but is told that it probably means nothing. Later in the hallway the student runs up on Jackson and stabs him a dozen or so times with an ice pick.

method man busted a cap in his ass, then he went on to write a rap song about how he felt Garfeild never helped him enough and how he felt he had so much genuine character which could have been put to use, but he chose the nail...of course
