I think Puppett was a friend of Rita's who died. Garfield looks in a folder about Rita and sees a photo with "Puppett" written under it.

Wasn't Puppet the tagger Benny kills in the ditch. Its where Benny tells the tagger, he messed up his masterpiece, the tagger tries to get out of it and bolts, Benny shoots him.

makes perfect sense.

dont know why they didnt make that a bit clearer but the whole movie has a sense that everything is connected.

That's interesting, I hadn't noticed that connection. Where did they indicate the guy Benny shoots was Puppett? Was it just by his face?

I have seen this movie a zillion times, have the dvd & listened 2 the commentary. As far as I can tell, the tagger Benny killed IS NOT Puppett. I don't know how nokooksallowed came upon that conclusion, as it's in NO WAY alluded 2 that Puppett is the tagger. I think it's alluded 2 that Puppett was Rita's boyfriend that was murdered prior 2 the events of the film.
