OK. A high schooler who couldn't read. I assume this is becoming more commonplace these days? I don't have any kids in school so I have no idea. If it is, dude that depresses me more than anything else.

Hi 'benji,

I have a son in elementary school. I don't think the reading is as bad as the writing. I went out with a man who had a son in high school and read a letter the son 'wrote' to the dad. Let me tell you, it was illegible and unintelligible. His father (my bf) was able to decipher a few of the words but really the only ones he knew for sure were 'dad' and 'justin'.

Be depressed ... Be very depressed.

I knew kids who read literally just enough to get by, but I am APPALLED at how grown people spell these days! Professors at my college can't spell, even the Yale professors I've watched on Public Access television.
Spelling was drilled into our heads as kids.
Education has become so incredibly corrupt and even more useless.
