Watching on cable, and they cut *SPOILERS*

The pivotal scene. It seriously went straight from Cesar asking Mr G if he had seen Deer Hunter, to the graduation ceremony. During the ceremony there's a quick shot of the two of them in the morgue, where you can hardly even make out who the characters are. No indication of how they died.

Must suck for anyone that hasn't seen Deer Hunter lol. Just another reminder why I'll never watch a movie for the first time on basic cable. Also funny that they show people blowing each other away, but self inflicted gunshots are apparently a no-no.

(if you, or someone, is interested still)

While watching the full movie, I was wondering how they would be able to make it TV friendly. If they just cut graphic scenes, they'd be left with a 15 minute PSA. I can't imagine what movie you ended up with, so the ending I saw may not make sense to you at all. I just watched it (first time) on HBO, and I don't know which release it is, or if there are other releases. There may be other endings, but I haven't looked into it. The movie is full of profanity (spoken and graphic), much in the form of graffiti, and some significant female nudity.

At any rate, here's the scene you didn't see....

(fades from "Deer Hunter" remark)
Cesar and G are sitting at the kitchen table, opposite, with the other two (homies) standing behind Cesar, guns pointed at G. Cesar begins a game of "Russian Roulette" and loads one round in the revolver, during a bunch of wordy talk. G replies with a wordy "machismo" and "what is a man" speech. (typical S.L. Jackson preacher tone....) G grabs the revolver and "double taps" at his head. No shot. G sets the gun down, continues his "man" speech, insisting it's Cesar's turn. G again "clicks" once at himself, then gets pistol-whipped after he says, "Where's your cajones?". More speech. G says "I pulled 3 times, you ain't pulled once". Cesar finally "clicks" one at his own head, then adds another round to the revolver (2 now, in a cylinder of 6 chambers). More macho/pride/man talk between them and G yelling, G "clicks" another at his head. Slams the revolver back to the table. It's Cesar's turn. More yelling by G. Cesar hesitates, staring at the revolver while G yells "Do it!". Cesar breaks down and stands up. G says, "Oh! So now you're the victim". G grabs the revolver and says, "Well, let me take your turn for you." View changes to Cesar, he yells "No!". Gun fires. A little blood splatter on Cesar's shirt, falling body sound. Cesar is completely nutted up at this point. Homies try to leave and take Cesar with them. Cesar stands still, looking toward G and says, "He took my turn. I could have taken my own m-f-ing turn. I gotta do this. (spins cylinder) I got 1 in 6 chances. I'm gonna beat this b***h." View pans to behind and away from him, toward homies. Gun fires, falling body sound. Homies have some words then run out of the house, seemingly in shock, tearing. View pans back to show Cesar bent across the table, gun near his hand, and G's legs are seen on the floor. The scene was very dramatic and suspenseful. Very well directed (I didn't so it justice). There are no views of either of them shooting themselves, only a little blood splatter. I suspect the "no-no" is not only about "self inflicted gunshots", but may also have to do with a really long, drawn out game of Russian Roulette (wouldn't want to give anyone any "ideas"). Also note, Cesar was handling the revolver with his right hand, severed finger splinted, and pulls the trigger with his middle finger. It then fades to the graduation ceremony.

Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.

thats about spot on TakeTwoTheyreSmall. I have seen this movie Many times...Rented it on VHS back in the Day...Probably DVD as well. Seen it on various movie channels...and it was never edited for time or content. I am just now watching the HBO showing that i DVRed yesterday...and it is not edited.

But yeah to the OP, I cant stand watching movies on basic cable anymore. Whether edited for Content or for Time...it just makes me get upset.

HBO, and other movie channels like Starz or Showtime, typically never edit movies for content. I just caught the movie being played on FX or something and figured I'd rewatch it. It was an embarrassing edit that barely showed half the movie.

I'd already seen the movie multiple times before, uncut, that's how I knew the scene was missing. I just thought it was ridiculous. It would be more understandable if they had shown the game of Russian roulette, but cut the shot where he actually shoots himself. But no.
