What actress portrayed Mrs. Bucky O'Neil?

No dialogue, but she was in the farewell scene at the train station. She followed Sam Elliot's character along the platform as the train pulled out.

In his commentary track Milius doesn't give her name, but he says she was a local actress he hired while on location.

This scene was so odd... what was the purpose of it? It was never alluded to, later on.

I think Milius owed that actress, of someone she knew, a favor.

Or did someone win a lottery to get a passionate kiss from Sam Elliot?

Just thought I'd mention that a friend of mine knows Bucky O'Neil's great grandson. My friend quotes the great-grandson as saying "My great-grandmother was a prim and proper Victorian Era lady who would've never dressed up in pants and a Stetson and ridden cross-country the way she was depicted as doing in the movie."
