BIG confusion.
In one of the episodes from season 3, named "the battlefield" there is a case where an iranian women sues her employer for wrongful termination.
In the defnse Jimmy says things like "bombing of planes" and "bombing of World Trade Center". Now I checked the airdate of that episode and it was aired on October 25, 1998. This is weird, how did they talk about things that happened two years later.

I am not an American and not a history enthusiast either, did something similar to 9/11 happen before?

The World Trade Center was bombed twice. JImmy was referencing the first truck bomb attack in the 1990's. Terrorists before 9-11 did attack airplanes too. Such attacks were not very common. But, they did occur.

Osama Bin Laden first bombed the World Trade Center back in 1993 with a truck bomb in the basement.

Also, terrorists in the 80s hijacked some plains and flew them over seas to a different airport, using the passengers as hostages.
