Brilliant acting vs moronic acting

Lara Flynn Boyle's sharp brilliant acting gave this show an absolute top class. And Steve Harris also did a very good job. Boyle and Harris rock the show.

But the others....ykkk. Dylan McDermott is a complete moron, he looks like he is having hard time suppressing a grin while shooting, and in emotional scenes he is ridiculously shaking his voice with whisper. That's all he has in his bag.

God help us from Michael Badalucco, Camryn Manheim and Lisa Gay Hamilton, these garbages should go back to school. Every time I see Michael Badalucco, I feel like smash his brains out. Why doesn't he sell pizza instead? Kelli Williams is too ordinary.

I've always liked Hamilton's work. She's a chameleon. I've been watching my Homicide megaset and realized Hamilton had done a convincing job of playing an ultra-glam party girl in Homicide's early seasons. I've also enjoyed her work on screen, too. Steve Harris also made a brief appearance on one of Homicide's early episodes. He always does a great job, as does Boyle. I have mixed feelings about the others. McDermott does a better job in his new cop show.

Can't stand Lyndsay. She overacts with her eyebrows and overpronounces her words. She also overgestures at times. She just isn't quite natural.

The more I think about it, I see your point, DocBrown. Williams really does overdo it. I've never found her too convincing in other things. Sometimes, I appreciate Kelley's work and the characters he creates so much that I overlook less than stellar acting.

Actually, I've been watching Seasons 1-3 recently, and I take back what I said about Williams. She was really good in those first few seasons.

But in Season 4, her character and her acting kind of went downhill, I think. Season 5 is where she started to get on my nerves.

I think you're right, DocBrown. I've been watching later episodes. Those earlier seasons are definitely better. Perhaps the writing was also to blame for the decline.

I totally love Camryn Manheim.

CM always rose to the occasion, no matter what the writers handed her.
