I was disgusted with the way Lindsay Dole handled him, a serial killer. She had the opportunity to reveal privilege information between him and her that would have led to his arrest and possibly found guilty of another murder. That would have prevented the death of the teenage girl. Rule 1.6 provided exceptions to the lawyer-client privilege and Judge Hiller mentioned this to her when she went to her for advice.

This was a serial killer, meaning there was a strong possibility of him killing again and which he subsequently did. Rule 1.6 also provided exception for this. If her client was not a serial killer, I may have supported her decision not to break privilege.

She could have avoided breaking lawyer-client privilege and still have the same outcome had she taken the opportunity when Stanley Geeks was very insistence of doing a deal with the ADA, Helen Gamble. That would have let her not break lawyer-client privilege. Instead she stopped him. I know that lawyers have to give all to a client but when that client was a serial killer, some discretion would have saved lives.
