David Kelley is a great writer -- within a small scope. In reality, he has only a few stories in him. The rest are variants. If I had to see yet another "Not guilty by reason of automatism" plea, I'd have started to throw things at my TV, for example. And yes, no one watches courtroom dramas to see who's doing whom. We come for the courtroom drama. Once they got to Boston Legal, it was nothing but everyone doing everyone else, and the lawyers standing up and making the soapbox speeches that Kelley really wanted to make himself. I think every character in the show said, "There are more guns than pets in America!" A statement that was offered without proof because it can't be proven. I especially love the "semi-automatic assault" guns that can "spray bullets."
I wonder if Kelley is that ignorant of the law is why he became a writer/producer?
