So many murders just ignored as the seasons went on!

Anyone else find it funny that season 1 they were really harping on the murders that were happening and investigating them. then by about mid season 2 a murder would happen and we hardly would get a mention of it?? like a guard being slashed to death by the nail clippers. we don't even look back on it? It was like a murder became a everyday thing and it was expected.

One thing that was kind of humorous to me (related to that) is how much prison news was on TV there. I'm not sure if that's normal (or was back then?), but it just strikes me as odd. (Not that the show is completely grounded in reality anyway.)
I can understand two murders in two weeks being reported on, or that an inmate has escaped, because those are kind of big things. But there are so many things that the prisoners learn about via the news, as if the station is dedicated to only prison-related happenings.

Yeah, I remember when Said refused the pardon by the governor.

All the inmates were in the rec room to see it live. Good timing for the rec break! It also appeared that it was this huge story akin to Neil Armstrong taking the first steps on the moon. Odd.

Yeah, and no one back then seemed to have though it odd that a prisoner was actually allowed to remain in prison, after the governor had decided he had to go
