It was cancelled, but still allowed to have a series finale, which ironically was just on TBS a couple of days ago.

If you ask me Jeff Zucker forced it off the air to try to tap into the cheaper reality craze. I believe Will and Grace took JSM time slot, did worse and ironically was allowed to stay on the air. This was the beginning of the end of NBC. No wonder NBC's ratings are in the toilet since.
JSM had another 2 good seasons left in it at least.

It was cancelled because stupid American idol was on Tuesdays and was the most watched show on TV that time! No offense to anyone who likes Idol but ever since JSM was cancelled I don't like Idol at all. I miss the good old days so much when there was nothing but sitcoms and dramas on now 90% of TV is reality show garbage! Serves NBC right for cancelling a great show! W&G I thought was the funniest the first 3 or 4 seasons. After awhile it didn't crack me up anymore. No offense to any W&G fans. I'm just ticked off that a great show like JSM get cancelled and they leave the stupid shows on TV! I know its been 11 yrs but still.
