Annotated Emma...

I asked this on a different message board with no luck, but does anyone here know if there is an annotated version of the book Emma? I read an annotated version of P&P and found it really helpful. I'd like to get an annotated copy of Emma too.

I did some searching on Amazon.com but didn't come up with an annotated Emma. I'm curious why you think you need one. I'm a huge Jane Austen fan, and while I don't always know precisely what a word means, I can usually figure it out in context. I've read Emma three or four times and found it to be a very accessible book.
I looked over the annotated P&P at the bookstore not too long ago and found all the notes to be disruptive. I can understand why you might want to read it that way, but despite these books having been written 200 years ago, Jane Austen is not a difficult read. It may take a chapter or two to get into the flow, but once you get going, don't worry about the odd word here or phrase there that you don't fully understand. Just let the words wash over you, so to speak, and you'll get it!
I received a great book last year - Jane Austen For Dummies. Even though I've read all of her books several times, it was fun to learn why it's significant that Jane Bennet danced two dances with Bingley. You might have fun with it and it might be a good companion to you while you read her other books. Remember, Jane is still hugely popular for many reasons, one being her topics and the other being her readability. Good luck!
