(SPOILER):Ok, it has been some time since i saw this good film, so I hope someone can help me with this question: Which of the students died?

Gil Martin (the acrophobic) and Dean Preston (the tough kid that cheated to get on the boat) both died. Dr. Alice Sheldon and Girard, the cook, also died. However, according to the book, actually four students died.

Ryan Phillippe's character was Gil. As stated already, he died.
