Siskel and Ebert review 'White Squall'

I thought it was a fantastic movie. Sure, it was s bit formulaic, but it was original in a time when most teen coming-of-age movies were more like American Pie type drivel. It's a period piece (Bay of Pigs era) but could apply to any period, and without people sticking their dicks in apple pies.

crunchbrry, what neither Ebert or Siskel had the gift of foresight to be able to tell was all the talent we see in this film at the beginning of their careers. For that reason alone it's fascinating to watch. I won't say this film is "fantastic" but it is entertaining. And if they had only re-worked the last act of the film, the overwrought, poorly scripted trial, this could have been a great film.

Siskel and Ebert were fun. It was a good show it was.
