Wasn't this '97?

I thought this was 1997. Could imdb have gotten it wrong?

Pretty sure it was '96. I remember seeing commercials for it, and then watching it when it came out on the movie network. On the DVD it says program content (c)1996, and artwork & photography (c) 97. So maybe that's when it was released on VHS?
