Bill Murray?

Hey!
Just watched like 1 minute of the movie and saw the scene where chrisofer guest were at the mechanic and asked if that young guy could act and saw the old man in the background. Is that Bill Murray??Just wants to know.. Thanks

reply

Close. That's Bill's older brother, Brian Doyle-Murray. He's been in a ton of stuff, most notably appearing as different characters in the original "National Lampoon's Vacation" and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" (as Clark's boss). Christopher Guest worked with both Bill and Brian in the National Lampoon during the '70s prior to Bill's work on SNL.

When I first saw the movie I immediately thought the same thing but then watching him more made me realize it wasn't him. I remember seeing the actor in something else too so that kind of made it obvious that it wasn't him. Pretty damn close though..

I love the Internet.

I'm watching it as I write, for like the 20th time, and for the first time I was taken aback thinking... is that Bill Murray in a cameo? Then, of course, I realized it's his brother. Maybe it's because we've come to know Bill Murray as an older man these days.

As for the movie itself, WAITING FOR GUFFMAN is a joy. It never fails to make me laugh out loud and cheer me up when feeling down. One of my all time favorites.

Brian Doyle Murray is maybe most recognized for his work as the head of Noah's Arcade in Wayne's World.

He's also the boss of the Caddyshack in Caddyshack (when he was young and thin and moustached).

He's been in a million things, but my favorite was Gus on Get A Life.

He's also the flying duchman on spongebob. :)

Oh and also, signatures that look like part of the post are so freakin annoying! I mean seriously!!

reply

He was also the Bubble Boy's father in Seinfeld

reply

Both Brian and Bill are in "Groundhog Day".

reply

As well as Ghostbusters, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters 2 and Scrooged.

Lol, I was just watching that scene and thought the same thing. I knew Murray didn't have any credited role in the film, but I'd forgotten all about Brian Doyle-Murray!
