Things I Noticed/Learned Rewatching Trainspotting

The train wallpaper in Renton's bedroom could also be a reason for why the movie is called Trainspotting. Never noticed it before.

Tommy was played by Kevin McKidd, now known for his role on Grey's Anatomy, but back in 1996 he was nobody.

I can actually understand Spud now during the job interview scene! I must have adapted after having been exposed to Scottish people for long periods in real life.

Kelly Macdonald was hotttttt! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ”ฅ
She didn't register much then, but now, whoa!

Begbie's rage came from being a closet homosexual.

Shirley "Moaning Myrtle" Henderson is in this!

The dead baby looks fake, still.

The title Trainspotting comes from several places. First of all, because taking heroin is a waste of one's life, like trainspotting. Secondly, because of the "track marks" on the veins of a IV heroin user. Thirdly, because in the book that inspired the movie, Begbie and Renton were hanging out on a train platform for reasons I don't recall. They were approached by some old, drunk guy who asks them if they're trainspotting. For some reason, Begbie is vexed by this old guy. Then Renton recognises him; it's Begbie's father, who abandoned his family years ago and doesn't even recognise his now-adult son.

The original book is a collection of short stories about the same people and areas of Edinburgh, one of the stories is 'Trainspotting at Leith Central Station'
They are in the station because it is a derelict and Out of service and lots of drug users, drinkers, homeless were hanging around there, Trainspotting being an ironic question because of course there were never going to be any trains passing through.
