If you greatly loved the Trainspotting book and film, what other highly compelling drug themed black comedy fiction, or even nonfiction books you've read so far, would you like seeing get film adapted.
As it doesn't have to be set in the UK, please elaborate on why you think it'd make for compelling reading and similarly compelling viewing.
Wonderland Avenue - it would have comedic elements but would be very disturbing. Can't imagine it ever being filmed, too many famous people wouldn't like it.
Shantarum, sadly film rights have been in negotiation for years and nothing has come of it.
But none of these, including trainspotting are ever just about the drugs, they are about the people and their relationships to each other, the mood, the circumstances etc
I thought of another great one - The Electric Cool Aid Acid Test. It definitely has the dark satire like Trainspotting it is from the hippy era so would have a different feel.
