And that's the speech Diane gives Renton before he gets in the cab, it's too eloquent for a schoolgirl and it doesn't ring true.

Diane was mature for her age, even though she was still at school. I don't think it's out of place for her to give a speech like that.

Yeah didn't like it either for the same reasons. Also felt like it was maybe a clichéd movie line to me at least.

It does stick out as the only dialogue in the movie that doesn't feel real, but like movie dialogue.
