This movie is horrible!!

I use to like this movie as a kid but I rewatch it and it doesn't make since.
Yeah the characters are fun to watch and the comedy is good which is why I liked it as a kid but now... Like for instance Roy doesn't learn anything at the end of the movie, and blew his chance to win the game...again
Dr. Molly sole purpose was to teach him self control but was the first one to tell him to go for
it!!,
Romeo, who was rightfully piss off and wanted to fight him in the middle of the movie for being stupid and blowing leads, does a 180 and is all of a sudden happy about him losing a
winable game but with style, huh??
Plus they tried to make the boyfriend look like a jerk at the end of the movie but to me he was more likable than Roy and even tried to help talk some sense in to him.
I really don't get the message the movie was trying to say.

To quote Molly:

No one's going to remember the Open - who won, who lost - but they're going to remember Roy's "12".

It was immortal.

And David - well he made 'par'.

Thaaaaaaat's... pretty much the message.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

It's funny but except for blowing up at the Grandparents and kid I really didn't have a problem with David. I have to say I think I would have been sore at Roy too for hitting that shot. It wasn't his place and to be honest he was a bit too smug when he told David he wouldn't fire him in front of all those people.

Hey! You're not old enough to drink! Now go and die for your country!!!

I agree with you OP.. This movie had some enjoyable moments but was otherwise completely ridiculous. And Romeo was about the only likeable character in it.

Roy was RIGHT. You define the moment, or the moment defines you. Roy defined the moment.
